Ynysddu Nursing Home is a 31-bed home which is situated in a small valley in the Caerphilly borough. The Home was originally a police station from 1902 until the mid-1960s. The village itself is very small but many of its inhabitants have lived in Ynysddu all their lives, some have even come to live in the Nursing Home.
The Home has undergone a reconfiguration and a large extension which has enabled it to become a registered nursing and residential home. It has maintained lots of its original character and is still the largest building in the village. Lots of families and residents themselves can remember the building as a police station and there are always stories to be told.
Recently, we have extended the main lounge and built a new patio area, with glass balustrade handrails, for residents to enjoy.
Ynysddu Nursing Home has close ties with local churches and schools. We also remain great friends with families of residents who have passed away.
There are a total of 31 beds over its three storeys. Ynysddu accommodation is suitable for people with a physical disability and has good wheelchair access, including a lift for residents. Each room has a telephone line on request, television point and nurse call system and residents can bring their own furniture to feel fully “at home”.
Ynysddu has got its own garden and patio seating for residents and families to enjoy. Ynysddu has a great atmosphere with daily freshly cooked meals and regular activities on offer. We have visiting chiropodist and physiotherapy services and residents can retain the services of their own doctor.
We are very close to the M4 and junction 28 Newport and we also have excellent bus links. The No. 56 bus from Newport/Blackwood stops directly outside the Home.
